As Matthew Slater reflects on the past year, he feels a deep sense of fulfilment in his second year as a wedding sketch artist. It has been a remarkable journey, filled with opportunities to draw in stunning locations and connect with countless joyful couples. His trusty sketchbooks and iPad have accompanied him to nine weddings, a delightful garden party, a wedding awards press launch, and even an Oktoberfest celebration to cap off the year!

While he may not capture the thousands of images a photographer would, Matthew has poured his heart into creating more than 450 sketches that bring to life the essence of brides, grooms, cakes, venues, musicians and guests. There’s something incredibly special about preserving the memories of these significant days in his unique, illustrative style. Embracing new challenges, Matthew has stepped into the realms of Instagram and Facebook Reels. This allows people to truly ‘meet’ him and experience the passion and energy he pours into his sketch work, making it easier for everyone to grasp what he does.

As the new year unfolds, Matthew is gearing up for an exciting birthday event in Windsor (no royalty in sight, unfortunately) and an awards event in London before diving into his first weddings of the spring. It’s an exciting time for him, filled with anticipation for the memories he’ll create alongside new couples.
